Important Ingredient Notes

Chicken: Cut the chicken into roughly 1-inch pieces so they cook quickly and evenly.

Parmesan: Freshly grated Parmesan melts and clings to the chicken better than pre-shredded cheese.

Garlic: Fresh garlic is added after air frying so it stays aromatic instead of burning.

Paprika: Smoked paprika gives the chicken a warm golden color and subtle smoky flavor.

Butter: Tossing the cooked chicken in garlic butter keeps the pieces juicy and helps the Parmesan stick.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken

Pat the chicken dry with paper towel, then cut it into evenly sized 1-inch pieces.

Place the chicken in a large bowl and add the olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper and optional red-pepper flakes. Toss until every piece is evenly coated.

  1. Preheat the air fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.

Lightly coat the basket with cooking spray if needed.

  1. Air fry the chicken

Arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air-fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; cook in two batches if necessary.

Air fry for 9–12 minutes, shaking or turning the chicken halfway through.

The chicken is ready when the outside is golden and the thickest pieces reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  1. Make the garlic butter

While the chicken cooks, melt the butter in a small skillet over low heat.

Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30–45 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.

    Remove from the heat.

  1. Add Parmesan

Transfer the hot chicken bites to a large bowl.

Pour the garlic butter over the chicken and toss gently.

Add the freshly grated Parmesan and parsley, then toss again until the chicken is evenly coated.

Chef Tips

Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Space around the chicken allows hot air to circulate and creates better browning.

Dry the chicken before seasoning. Excess moisture can make the chicken steam instead of crisp.

Check the chicken slightly early because air-fryer models vary.

Add the fresh garlic after air frying rather than before. Garlic can burn quickly at 400°F.

For extra Parmesan flavor, sprinkle a small amount over the chicken immediately after tossing it in the garlic butter.

What to Serve With Garlic Parmesan Chicken Bites

These chicken bites work especially well with:

  • Garlic butter rice
  • Crispy roasted potatoes
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Creamy pasta
  • Caesar salad
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Roasted asparagus
  • Green beans
  • Warm flatbread

Storage

Store cooled chicken bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

For the best texture, reheat the chicken in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes.

You can also microwave it, although the exterior will be softer.
